The COVIDAZE Monologues

In an attempt to replace their play "School Daze," Ms. Jonny's 6th grade drama class spent the last few weeks writing monologues about the pandemic. Students did writing exercises with the help of professional playwright and TheatreSquared Artistic Director Bob Ford and read their monologues to each other over Zoom. They received feedback, made edits, memorized, practiced and eventually performed for the camera.

Middle School Monologues: School Daze

This would have been Opening Night for the middle school drama students and their productions of "Fidget" and "School Daze." Since we can't be together performing, we thought we'd showcase a few monologues from the 6th graders' play, recorded on phones at home!

Middle School Artists take a Stand on Bullying

Ms. Katie Terry's middle school art students are using clay to create whimsical creatures which will become part of an installation depicting scenarios about standing up to bullies.  While using simple clay forms like a pinch pot head balanced on a cone body, students made their characters unique by adding horns, teeth, wings, tails and scales. After the pieces were fired in a kiln, the students planned a color palette using acrylic paint for their sculptures which gave them even more details and life! In the end, they used a technique called antiquing to create the illusion of age in their creations. These creations will be displayed during Grandparents' Day.
