Nancy Lang | Head of School
Springtime in schools brings a blend of joyful year-end celebrations and exciting plans for the future. In that dynamic tension between reflection and forward thinking, we often neglect to pause and just be in the present moment. As we are nearing the end of this school year, something that was hard to envision in August, I find joy in being mindful of moments with students and teachers.
Jack Sweeney | Director of Advancement
The Spring Auction and our Celebration of the Arts has come to an end. What a week!!! I am so proud to be a part of The New School community. I was not sure how successful a virtual auction would be during these strange times but, as in the past, our community of course came through.
Mary Sweeney | Head of Early Childhood
Art! Art! Art! The children in ECE love to create masterpiece after masterpiece. From the small little butterflies they draw, to the individual works of art they each created for last week’s art show. Creative art is everywhere we turn in our school and so important to each child’s own identity.
RIght now, we are in our final week of CTP (Comprehensive Testing Program) standardized testing. The CTP Test is a rigorous assessment for students in grades 1-7 covering reading, listening, vocabulary, writing, and mathematics.
J.R. Neiswender | Head of Upper School
One of the most important aspects of academic life in the Upper School is the creation of the master schedule for each school year. Determining what courses best serve the needs and interests of our student body is a crucial element in the development of our growing Upper School here at TNS.
David Ferrell | Athletics Director
As school is beginning to wind down, so is athletics. We are nearing the end of track, our final sport of the year. We had two district champions at our Jr. High District Meet: Caylie A. won the Shot Put and Discus, while Andrew A., Festus M., Holden W. and Wyatt V. won the 4x100 relay! We are looking forward to finishing the track season strong.
Jonny Schremmer| Arts Director
On the heels of a very fun-filled virtual Arts Week, Spring Auction and birthday celebrations for three of us on the arts faculty, I received an unexpected text from our Josten’s representative saying he was ready to deliver the yearbooks.

Meet Jackson, May Cougar of the Month
Jackson P. is currently in Ms. Gina's 3's class at The New School. This year marks his third at the school.
"Jackson is very happy, energetic, and comes to school with a 'ready to learn' attitude. He's inquisitive and an out of the box artist already at such a young age. He is so helpful to his classroom family!" - Ms. Gina, 3's Lead Teacher
It's Teacher Appreciation Week!
We appreciate all of our teachers and are so thankful for all that they do. Especially during an unusual school year, their immense work and impact have provided a much-needed sense of community and connection.
TNS is celebrating our teachers this week with a surprise each day to thank them for their hard work.
Thank you TNS teachers!
The New School Summer Camp 2021
This summer, The New School will be holding a traditional style day camp for children in the area that have just completed K-6. Campers will enjoy themed weeks such as Splish Splash, The Great Outdoors, Under the Sea, and so many more as well as one to two outdoor centered field trips. Campers will participate in on-campus recreational activities, recess, tech time, and structured free time to socialize with their friends in a safe environment.
We will be keeping groups relatively small to ensure the safety and wellness of our campers and staff. Masks will be mandatory as well as social distancing within groups.
